From The Founder
Hello, I’m April Ifunanya Izundu, a 25-year-old visual arts student at the University of Lagos, Nigeria, driven by a deep passion for African culture and fashion. I created Nenwà to share the vibrant stories of my heritage, woven from the rich cultural traditions and stunning evolution of African fashion that I grew up surrounded by in Lagos. Every African piece I wear is a connection to my roots, a proud declaration of who I am and where I come from. The more I learn about my cultural heritage, the deeper I want to connect, and the more I want to share that connection with the world.
With Nenwà, my goal is to take you on a journey through African fashion’s untold stories, preserving cultural heritage, empowering artisans, and promoting cross-cultural understanding. I’m dedicated to community building, sourcing unique craftsmanship, and celebrating inclusivity – catering to all body types and sizes, because everyone deserves to experience the beauty of African culture. My values drive me to create durable, timeless pieces that honor African culture’s significance, and I’m committed to sustainability, ensuring that our footprint is as gentle as our touch.
Join me on this journey, and let’s explore the richness of African culture together. Let’s celebrate the diversity, creativity, and resilience that make our heritage so extraordinary. With Nenwà, every piece is a story, every thread is a testament, and every wearer is a part of our vibrant community.
